“UNTIL YOU MAKE THE UNCONSCIOUS CONSCIOUS, IT WILL DIRECT YOUR LIFE AND YOU WILL CALL IT FATE”
CARL JUNG
I spent my formative years moving between Europe and the Far East, navigating different cultures and environments through immersion, observation and intuition. The expansive nature of this childhood continued as I embarked upon a twenty-year career in marketing and advertising, during which I lived in London, New York, Amsterdam and Sydney. Working for some of the world’s most prominent and creative global brands. I was outwardly successful and content, supported by loving relationships, yet often felt overwhelmed and alone, longing for a deeper sense of purpose and answers to my past.
Whilst expansive, childhood was precarious. Love was there but it was complicated, which is not unusual. My body knew fear early on and I learned how to disassociate from it. As I grew my longing to feel safety and belonging would distort my sense of self. I developed mechanisms of hyper vigilance, judgement, people- pleasing and perfectionism. Suppressed anger would surface like a tidal wave when I felt threatened or sensed injustice. Anxiety and shame that would see me withdraw into silence and solitude. My mind created narratives of unworthiness and aloneness and later my physical body revolted against me - imploring me to listen. And I did.
Adjacent to my career I studied and practiced modern and ancient healing systems. Following immersive teaching programs in ashrams in India and The Bahamas, I qualified as a Hatha yoga teacher, which engendered further exploration into meditation, nutrition, breath and energy work. In Mexico I was initiated into the Reiki lineage as a master practitioner and later pursued my interest in neuroplasticity and epigenetics which preceded studies into Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming in Australia, where I qualified as a Hypnotherapist.
This resulted in an immediate convergence. I left my career. I left a lot in my life, finally my work became my purpose. My therapeutic practice and perspective today is informed by this personal and professional experience, particularly in the realm of trauma.
For me the process of healing is about integrating all of who we are, all that we have experienced, no matter how dark and difficult. In hypnotherapy I work with the conscious and unconscious - body and mind and heart.
I believe that we all have the innate ability to heal and grow, no matter what we may have endured. That we remain whole and complete, even when we feel lost and fragmented. Acknowledging the need to change and being committed to doing so is a courageous act – I will meet you there.
